How do I take care of my charm necklace?

We suggest removing your jewelry while showering, swimming and exercising. It's important to note that perfumes, lotions or hair products can increase the wear on your pieces. We recommend avoiding the use of harsh chemicals, bleach, oil, or jewelry cleaners as this can affect the finishing. The best way to care for your necklace is to buff it with a jewelry cloth as needed.

Why is my necklace turning colors?

Every person's unique skin-oils react differently to certain metals and plating. We are not responsible for your skin's reaction to our products. You can prolong the life of your pieces by following our care recommendations. If you have a history of gold-filled jewelry pieces tarnishing or turning, our charm bar may not be the best jewelry option for you.

What is my necklace made of?

All of our charms are gold-filled unless the charm uses other materials such as stones, porcelains, gems, etc. Our chain options are gold-filled over brass. We use gold-filled clasps and jump rings. If you have specific questions regarding your charm selections, please reach out and we can give you more information.

What does gold-filled mean?

Gold-filled is a layer of gold pressure bonded to another metal. Gold-filled is not to be confused with gold plating as filled has 100% more gold than gold plating. With proper care, gold-filled should last as long as solid 14K gold jewelry and is safe for most people with sensitive skin. Gold-filled is the best quality & most budget friendly alternative to solid gold. It can last a lifetime if taken care of properly.

Bella + Mauve is not responsible for natural wear, maintenance or improper care of jewelry.
